Connect Chrome Extension in Incognito Mode
By default, Google Chrome does not enable the Family Zone extension in incognito mode. Parents need to set Family Zone for Laptops to filter Google Chrome web browsing while in incognito mode.
Allow filtering of incognito web content
If you verified your account is allowed to change the Chrome Extension settings, take the following steps.
In your Child's Chrome browser:
- In the Chrome web address, go to chrome://extensions
- At Connect for Chrome - Community, click Details
- Go to the bottom of the window
- At Allow in incognito, click the toggle until it is solid-blue (on)
- Close the browser tab
- If your Child tries to use an incognito window to access inappropriate websites, the content will be blocked
If you do not have incognito Settings
The incognito settings cannot be changed if your Child's account is managed by School IT, an Administrator or Google Family Link. Verify who manages your Child's Google account.
In your Child's Chrome browser:
- In Chrome, in the web address go to
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6208960 - Review the paragraph under your Child's name to see if you have access to change the Chrome Settings:
a. "Your current account, isn't managed by an administrator"
Yes. You can edit the Connect Chrome Extension settings. Use the steps above.
b. "Your Google Workspace for Education account, which is managed by the school administrator"
Or, "Your account was set up by an administrator."
No. Your Child's School IT manages the Google Account. Contact School IT to change the Connect Chrome Extension settings.
c. "Your parent is helping to manage some of your settings"
No. This is a Google Family Link account and is not compatible with Family Zone Connect.
As a Parent, you can create a new Google account and set the birthday to 14 years or older.
