Turn Off Protection

At home, you may want to turn off filtering if your Child needs access to blocked content.

For example, some keywords associated with current events may be part of a broader group of blocked content. You may want to allow your Child to access the web pages and information to allow them to complete a homework assignment.

On your Child's Android phone or tablet:

  1. Open the Family Zone app
  2. In the upper-right, tap the gear icon
  3. Enter in your 4 digit parent PIN
  4. At Family Zone enabled, tap the toggle until it is gray (off)
  5. Select how long you want filtering turned off
    (30 Minutes, 1 Hour, 2 Hours, 4 Hours, 8 Hours)
  6. In the upper-left, tap the back arrow to close your Parent's settings

You are done. When the timer runs out, Family Zone filtering will turn back on. One quick note, if your Child is connected to their School network, disabling the filtering does not override the Schools content filtering.

Turning Filtering Back On

The filtering will turn back on when the timer runs out. If you want to end the access before the timer runs out, use the following steps to turn the filtering on ahead of schedule.

On your Child's Android phone or tablet:

  1. Open the Family Zone app
A filtering off icon and countdown timer will be visible
  2. At the top of the screen, tap the gray banner Tap to reactivate
  3. At the confirmation message, tap YES

Your Child's filtering and rules return to the regularly scheduled access Routine (Play, Study, School or Sleep).

Does this impact device restrictions like the App Store or Google Play?

Yes, without filtering, your Child has full access to purchase apps or make in-app purchases if your login to the store is stored on the phone.

Why would I want to turn filtering off?
