Reset Internet Filtering and Rules

Parents may want to restore their Internet filtering and blocking rules to the default settings. Resetting the rules removes any manual overrides a Parent added.

Restore Default Web Cateogories by Age

On a Parent's phone or tablet:


  1. In Settings, tap Internet filters & rules 
  2. Note the age group (any Children in this group are listed in the paragraph below)
    Start with Web categories 
  3. Optional, tap SHOW MY OVERRIDES to see your customizations 
  4. Any changes you've made have a marker at the top-right
  5. If you want to remove all of your changes in Web categories for this age group,
    Tap RESTORE DEFAULTS 
  6. Tap YES 

The default Web category settings are active for all Children only in this Age Profile (age group). 

The other internet rules will remain unchanged (Search and streaming media, Device Features, Social networks and games, and Advanced).


Restore Defaults for Other Rules or Ages

On a Parent's phone or tablet:

  1. To reset rules for another age, tap Kids (0-8)
    Select the other age group and Children's names will be displayed beneath 
  2. Tap RESTORE DEFAULTS 
  3. To reset other rules, tap the rule selector and tap on a different rule: 
    Web categories
    Search and streaming media
    Device features
    Social networks and games
    Advanced
  4. Tap RESTORE DEFAULTS 
  5. Tap YES 



Internet Filters & Rules Options

As a Parent, you may want to customize our recommended Internet filters and rules for:


  • Web categories (Dating, Education, Government, Hate Speech ...)
  • Search engines, SafeSearch, and streaming media (YouTube, Google, Bing ...)
  • Websites (specific web addresses)
  • Device features (Camera, In-App Purchases, App Installs ...)
  • Social networks and games (Minecraft Online, Skype, Tinder, Twitter ...)
  • Advanced (Malware, Piracy, New Websites ...)



Age Profiles

Family Zone uses age groups  created by our Cyber Experts:

  • Kids (0-8 years old)
  • Children (9-12 years old) 
  • Juniors (Junior High & Middle School, 13-15 years old)
  • Seniors (Senior High School, 16-17 years old)
  • Young Adults (18-21 years old)
  • Adults (21+ years old)

By default the age is determined by the birthdate. Parents can use the advanced settings to set the age profile manually or by the school year.
