How to Temporarily Mute 'Device not seen' Alerts in a Web Browser?

Mute the Device Not Seen Alert

From a computer:

  1. In a web browser, go to https://portal.familyzone.com
  2. Sign in as a Parent
  3. Click on To do  in the left-hand menu
  4. Click on the Device not Seen to do
  5. Click MUTE
    If you click IGNORE, the To Do Alert will be permanently deleted
  6. Select the timeframe you want the notifications muted for
    Choose from 1 WEEK, 2 WEEKS, 4 WEEKS or FOREVER

If I mute them forever, can I un-mute them?

Yes, you can un-mute the notifications (see the link in the Related Articles).

What does muting the notifications do?

Muting the notifications temporarily stops the emails, push notifications, and displaying the To Do in the list.

Can I mute the device not seen notifications if I don’t have a To do?

No, you’ll need to wait for the next To do to be generated for the device.

Can I mute the notifications for all devices at once?

No, you can only Mute To Dos one-by-one for each Device.

What happens at the end of the selected period?

If Family Zone has not seen the Device for 14 days we will send a notification. If the device is back online and connected to the internet, the To Do notification will be automatically removed by the system. 

Push Notifications and Email Alerts

Discussions of cyber safe activities between family members is important. Family Zone uses notifications and emails to help Parents and Children know what online activities to talk about.


  • Push Notifications on Mobile Devices
    - turned on or off in the Android or iOS Settings

    Examples: When turned on, a Child gets an onscreen reminder when Play time is about to run out. Or, a Parents get an onscreen message when a Child is requesting access to a website or online activity.

  • To Do Notifications and Emails for Parents
    - permanently ignore or temporarily mute a message in the To Do section

    Example: A Child's mobile phone or tablet has not been seen for 14 days and a Parent knows the device is broken. Parents open the To Do and use Ignore to permanently remove the message.

  • Weekly Reports Emails
    - turned off in the Parent's app by going to Settings > Reports & Usage

    Example: Email summarizing the percentages and types of internet usage for tracked Users under 18. (Family members 18 years and older are not tracked by default.)

  • School Community Emails
    - turned off in the Parent's app by going to Settings > Reports & Usage

    Example: Family Zone Partner Schools can invite Parents to share the data used to manage a Child's device. Parents who accept the invitation receive a weekly report of the Child's online activity inside school.

    Not available in some schools. Children's devices may not be monitored at schools using other tools to manage a Child's access to the internet.

  • Device Notifications by Age Profile 
    - advanced options can be turn off in the Parent's app by going to Settings > Internet filters & rules > Alerts & Consequences

    Example: Parents can track a Child installing apps or tampering with their mobile device. The monitoring applies to all children in the specified age group in the Family. Applies to Premium Members only.
