Changing a Device Owner Using a Web Browser

Device Settings

From a computer:

  1. In a web browser, go to the Family Zone Portal at https://help.familyzone.com/
  2. Log in as a parent
  3. From the left menu, go to Settings > Devices
  4. Click on the device name
  5. In DEVICE INFORMATION, click EDIT
  6. Select the new Owner from the drop-down list
  7. Click SAVE

How long before the changes take effect?

The change takes 30 seconds to 2 minutes before the new owner's online access is synced with the device.

What happens on the device when I change the owner?

The internet filtering rules, calendar, and routine for the new owner will be active across all of the Family Zone products.

You can see the change in the Family Zone App and Family Zone Web Portal. Members with the Family Zone Box will see the change when they go to http://www.home.tools/ while the device is connected to the Box.  

How can I check the device ownership has changed?

You can open the app and refresh or browse to home.tools.

Can I change the owner of the device?

No, however, you can complete a Loan from the device.

Can my children change the device owner themselves?

Sort of, they are able to borrow the device if you’ve set up a PIN or request a borrow (for you to action remotely) if you haven’t.
