Accept Primary Parent Responsibilities

Parents living in separate homes may wish to change which Parent is in charge of Shared Parenting. Most of the time each Parent takes control of the monitoring when the Child comes to their home.

However, there may be a situation where the Primary Parent gives the responsibility of managing Shared Parenting to one of the other Parents. The other Shared Parent uses the following steps to accept the responsibility.

On the other Parent's iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open Safari or a web browser
  2. Go to the web address
  3. Login with your Parent email and password
If required after login, tap the menu > To do
  4. At the To do list, tap the "Change primary parent invitation"
  5. Tap ACCEPT

You can close your browser and open the Family Zone app.

Primary Parent Functions

The Primary Parent functions are now available to you. See the Shared Parenting guide and the related links in this article for the steps to managing the other caregivers monitoring your Child's online activity.

On your iPhone or iPad:

  1. Sign in to Family Zone as a Parent
  2. In Family, tap on your Child's name
  3. In the upper-right, tap Edit
  4. Move down to SHARED PARENTING
You will see your name and the other Parent listed
You will have access to invite and remove Shared Parents

What is a parent versus a shared parent?

A parent in Connect is a guardian in the home who is allowed to change the monitoring settings and edit family details.

A shared parent in Connect is a guardian typically outside the parent home with a separate Family Zone account with different monitoring rules for a child's activity.

A parent or shared parent can be any guardian, such as grandparents or babysitters.

Adding or removing parent or shared parent access uses the Family menu. The first parent (primary parent) adds shared parents through the family section.
